Dr. Tenzin Namdon, originally from Orrisa Tibetan settlement and was brought up by her parents in Dharamsala is currently working as a general physician at Delek Hospital, Dharamsala catering to healthcare needs of people living in Dharamsala and in the adjoining areas. She has been working at Delek Hospital for the past three years.
She completed her school education from Sacred Heart High School, Sidhpur and Tibetan Children’s Village, Upper TCV respectively. After clearing Himachal Pradesh’s Pre-Medical Entrance Test, she was enrolled to study medicine at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda at Kangra, for a period of five and a half years, graduated in 2016 with MBBS degree. This she feels was only possible through perseverance, hard work, determination and well a lot of sleepless nights.
Dr. Namdon joined Delek Hospital, a referral hospital in the Tibetan community, as a Medical Officer in February 2017. She is currently involved in a pilot health project that aims at providing free diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Helicobacter Pylori infection among residents of monasteries and nunneries located in and around Dharamsala; in collaboration with the Department of Health, CTA. She was also a part of the Kagyu Monlam Well Being Free Medical Camp held at Bodh Gaya in January 2019 and worked in the capacity of a consulting doctor. The health camp provided free medical consultation and treatment to the local Indian population of Gaya district, Bihar.
Dr.Namdol is actively involved in public health education programs in Tibetan schools, monasteries, nunneries by giving/and or organizing talks on common health issues caused through infectious diseases like Tuberculosis, Dengue and on gynaecological issues.
Dr. Namdol aspires to do a specialization course on a particular branch of a medical line in the near future.
