Tenzin Dechen is the Lead Communicator for GE Global Research, Bangalore for the past two years now. Before this, Dechen was a Senior Reporter with the Deccan Chronicle newspaper. She has a Bachelor’s degree Journalism and Communication Studies from Manipal University, and worked for five years in the press before making the transition to corporate communication.

Tenzin Dechen has a few words of advice for those aspiring to a career in communication:
“To be a good communicator, whether you work in media, public relations, advertising, marketing or the corporate world, you have to first be a good listener. While a good command of the language is necessary, what really makes a difference is one’s ability to connect with people and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. And as in any creative field, communications is about thinking out of the box, it’s about re-imagining the ordinary and creating something new”.
