Handing over your mobile for eight days when it has been so dear and vital to you, at a place where you are with unknown people and miles away from familiarity – family, friends and city life – sounds challenging right?! Well, that’s the challenge we accepted at Initiative of Change, Asia Plateau during our participation in “Let’s make a Difference” (LMAD) national conference.
Those eight days of the conference went away at a glimpse as I enjoyed every moment of being at this beautiful and serene place. The warmth and positivity of the people around made me so comfortable and connect with them instantly. I never felt the need of a mobile phone and nor the connection of the virtual world.
This conference allowed me to go deep within my consciousness and look unbiasedly at who I really am and where I stood in my life with respect to my values, my relationship, my career and my purpose. It showed me that there is a beauty in everything; just that how one wants to perceive it. At LMAD when we were introduced to an absolute standard of Initiative of change, i.e Purity, Unselfishness, Unconditional love and Honesty, I felt so familiar with these standards as it was taught by our parents and teacher at home and school too. But I look back at my journey uptill now and realised that somehow I ignored or missed this standard in the race to move ahead in life. However, this conference made me think and understand that individual’s greed and selfishness has made this world a challenging place, and that individual transformation is a must to make our world a better place to live. To start from self and then others.
Morning hours of ‘Quiet-Time’ during the conference were filled with powerful reflection about my life. This conference gave us tremendous time to reflect upon ourselves and interact with people who are near us in the real world rather than finding ourselves too engaged in the virtual world. A transformation I hope to invest more in and develop further.
Morning practice of quiet time, meeting new people every day, sharing my personal journey to people who I hardly knew, our chores and support for each other in the group, are all memories that will stay with me forever. I intend to spread the word to my friends and others about the significance of ‘Quiet-Time’ in our lives and how enriching the experience of LMAD has been for me.
My heartfelt gratitude to Empowering the Vision for providing such a platform to us. The conference is worth attending and I hope more young Tibetans will grab this opportunity to explore, learn and evolve for better, individually and socially.
