-Tsewang Chozom
My name is Tsewang Chozom. I did my masters in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Studying Political Science for years illuminated me with many important theoretical concepts like power, justice, rights, and equality. And this has further helped me find my passion for standing up and working for children rights particularly, their fundamental rights like education, skill development, etc. I have always been very vocal, a firm believer and supporter of child’s right, both abled and differently-abled, although I was introduced to the formal term “Inclusive Education” just a few years ago. I feel that just having the knowledge about these rights would not help in overcoming challenges they face on a daily basis such as lack of acceptance from society for who they are; their identity; and the dearth of recognition for their skills. Through ENVISION’s help, I was able to secure a seat at Able Disabled All People Together (ADAPT), Mumbai for a three-month short-term course on CII (Community Initiatives in Inclusion) and completed the course in April 2019. I am happy to share that ADAPT offered me to join them as an Employee and I readily accepted to join in September after the completion of my three-month Action Plan which I am implementing presently in Ladakh. I have conducted a workshop for more than twenty parents and college graduates thus far, in Ladakh on “A shift from medical to social model of disability and Inclusive Education. I am planning to reach out to as many people as possible and create awareness of Inclusive education in our society.
