Both Resume and CV (Curriculum Vitae) are documents outlining information about your education, career, skills and achievements. The main difference between them is length. CV means “the course of your life” whereas the word resume derives from french and means “to summarize”. A CV is a multiple-page document that provides detailed information about the education, work experience, presentation, achievements, research and other accomplishments whereas a resume is normally a 1-2 page document providing a concise overview of a person’s education, experience and skill set.
A resume should be clear, concise and structured. Summary of your education, experiences, skills and accomplishments are designed to capture the interest of the potential employer. The reverse chronological order is when the timeline starts with the most recent events going back to the oldest. For resumes, it means listing the latest job position and qualifications you’ve worked or achieved first. And then continuing backwards from there.
