My name is Karma Tsering. I was born in the Mundgod Tibetan settlement, Karnataka. I completed my schooling from SOS Tibetan Children’s Village Bylakuppe; and under-graduate in Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com) from Krishna University based in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada, in 2014.
After my college studies, I worked as an Accountant for about three years at the Shambhala Charitable Trust based in West Bengal. Although work experience was rich, I realised that I truly felt not so passionate about and interested. I figured my interpersonal relation and communication skills are good and, therefore, wanted to articulate these skills professionally.
After much introspection, I decided to shift my career gear from an Accountant to Bartending. The latter is something I can relate to ever since I was young, considering I believe a Bartender would require creativity and artistic inclination.
However, as a matter of fact, I never formally have the experience nor taken a Bartending Course. With help and guidance from Empowering the Vision (ENVISION), I enrolled on an intensive course in Bartending and Mixology at the European Bartender school based in Bangalore starting January 2021. At European Bartender school, I studied all about Mixology, Liquors, Liqueur, Region, Spirits, Cocktails, Low and non-alcoholic drinks such as sparkling wine.
At present, I am working as a Bartender at IKIGAI in Bangalore. I encourage Tibetan youth to pursue their interest and build employability skills through great opportunities such as ENVISION Fellowship Programme.
