Tsering Dhargay
My name is Tsering Dhargyal and I completed my graduation in commerce from Krishna University (Vijayawada) in 2017. Contrary to my bachelor studies, I have always been interested in studying computer skills and have often been hands-on in it. Henceforth, I decided to pursue a short-term course in Graphic Design course to enrich and enhance my skills further with professionals. My family runs a small home-run Thukpa noodle making business. The reason to take up Graphic Design primarily was also to combine my business understanding with advertising skills as we can’t afford to hire or pay for such services yet. With the skills acquired in Graphics, Illustration, branding, something I have an eye for too, I am confident of taking my family business a notch up. With this in mind, I sought support from Empowering the Vision under their Fellowship programme for young Tibetans.
Once my fellowship application was shortlisted by ENVISION, I was asked to provide details of the training /short-term course that I intended. So researching extensively for an appropriate and qualitative institute to pursue a short-term course on Graphic Design, I finally came across ADMEC Institute, located at Rohini East and instantly decided to do a four-month course at the institute. Once my Fellowship was confirmed, I started my classes on 24th of August and I am learning as much as I can with each passing day. The faculty and the facilities at the Institute are great and so are the methodologies of teaching. At present, classes being taken are on ‘Photoshop.’ I never thought Photoshop is as sophisticated as it is being taught by our teachers at ADMEC. It is fascinating to see how single software is capable of designing, styling and editing various pictures and forms. Understandable and effective teaching skills of teachers/instructors make it all the more delightful to learn. Designing posters, magazine cover, advertisements and other commercial creation sessions are also on the agenda of the short-term course at ADMEC. Apart from regular classes, we (the students) can go to ADMEC laboratory anytime to revise and practice what we have learnt thus far. Our instructors/teachers also make us do rigorous assignments and projects to refine our skills.
I have learnt and realised that studying graphic design has enabled me to express better apart from empowering myself with the technical skills. I am making the most out of my short-term course here and I certainly look forward to learning more in the coming three months. I am very grateful for this fellowship from ENVISION, as they not only understood my objective for taking this training but also encouraged me to aspire more and offered to help with internship opportunities (if I needed) in the same field and help me build other professional skills.
