-Tenzin Bhuti
My name is Tenzin Bhuti, a post-graduate in psychology with a research interest in mental health, Buddhist psychology and its application in the field of clinical psychology.
To further my understanding, I took a six-month short-term course in Applied Buddhist Psychology with funding support from Empowering the Vision Project to whom I will eternally be grateful.
The course added value to my existing knowledge of psychology, its application and its relevance in the field of mental health. The fact that serious matters like mental health and illnesses are often brushed under the rug and are not discussed openly further spurred my interest to pursue this course and later be an advocate of the same in my community and gradually on the global stage.
It has now been almost three months of taking up this course. Today it’s just me but I hope and wish younger Tibetans like me can enroll in such a course and benefit from it. The pandemic has taken a toll on everyone’s lives and to have the privilege to attend such a class that is very reflective, deep and engaging. Everything that I have learnt from the course, I am committed to passing on to others and providing them with this enriching experience.
The course syllabus is tailored in a way that we can grasp the basic concepts, contemplate them and inculcate this understanding in our personal lives. Also, something very different yet striking about this course is that although it’s online, the interaction and engagement among the attendees induces a space of connection and makes this class something much anticipated throughout the week.
Thus, my journey of taking this course has been reflective. And I am eagerly looking forward to learning more and making the best of this course.
And this wouldn’t be possible without the financial aid from ENVISION, I am ever grateful for that.
