Empowering the Vision’s (ENVISION) Second Northeast Career Exploration Workshop was held at STSS Sambhota Sonada, Central School for Tibetans (CST) Darjeeling and Kalimpong from 24-26th May 2019.
ENVISION has been holding this workshop since last year based on our many interactions with students from the Northeast and that we felt the need to reach out to the region to conduct career-related workshops, and also on request from school authorities. The main purposes of the workshop are to build self-awareness by guiding the students to discover their values and interest, to provide them information on college admission procedures, career choices and scholarship opportunities. Students were also briefed about opportunities that they can avail through ENVISION.
The workshops covered a total of 122 students, out of which 60 students are of STSS Sonada, 34 and 28 students of CST Darjeeling and Kalimpong, respectively and were facilitated by Apa Lhamo, Assistant Director and Tenzing Migmar, Executive Assistant on behalf of ENVISION.
The workshops guided and engaged the students on self-exploration, conventional and unconventional career options, college admission procedures in Delhi, and on scholarship opportunities.
We were able to not only assist students to engage in the aforementioned sessions but also helped them in discovering their potentials by employing factors/tests such as aptitude, interest and personality types through various activities and exercises. Many students expressed in the feedback sessions that they have never participated in exercises involving self-exploration and personality traits activities before and found the workshop useful and worth forgoing their weekends.
I have attended many workshops in the past but found them theoretical and monotonous. However, today’s workshop was enriching, engaging and useful. We were made to participate in different activities and exercises.

Out of the many sessions today, I absorbed the most from the session on self-exploration. I got to know my innate abilities and interest on which I can build a career in the future.
