Ngawang Gamtso Hardy works as a Research Fellow at India Foundation, an independent research centre/Think Tank focused on the issues, challenges and opportunities of the Indian polity. She is currently based in New Delhi.
Ngawang Hardy was born in Phendeling Settlement in Mainpat, Chhattisgarh. She did her Schooling from Dehradun and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University. She is currently enrolled to complete a Master’s degree in Commerce from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
As a Research Fellow at India Foundation, her research interests include India’s diplomatic relations with South Korea, North Korea and Japan. She is also working on India’s Tibet Policy and oversees projects related to geopolitics on Himalayan region. Ngawang also did research on Tibet’s water and china’s exploitation of Tibetan rivers and had written an article on it in the Indian Army Magazine called Salute.
Ngawang has also served as Media and Public Relation in-charge in Regional Tibetan Youth Congress during her college days and has been an active spokesperson of freedom and justice. During her college years in Delhi, she also volunteered for the first Dharamsala International Film Festival (DIFF) through Empowering the Vision in 2013.
Ngawang G. Hardy was one of the panellists in a program called security scan on Rajya Sabha TV news channel discussing US President Donald Trump’s meet with North Korean Regime Kim Jong-un in March 2018.
She has through her work and personal communication always endeavoured to promote Tibetan Culture and integrity in the Indian Diaspora through soft power. As GTPN member Ngawang hopes to build on her understanding and network with other Tibetan professionals and also help contribute toward nurturing young Tibetans who hope to pursue careers in international relations/foreign policy and research etc.
