Tsering Kyi Gangsangtsang was born in eastern Tibet, Amdo Amchok graduated high school from Tibet and after escaping into India in 1999 continued her studies at the Tibetan Children’s Village school. In 2003, Tsering participated in the Miss Tibet contest and was crowned the ‘Miss Tibet 2003’. Upon becoming Miss Tibet, Tsering traveled to 13 different countries as an ambassador for the Tibetan cause; she particularly took a keen interest in highlighting the Tibetan women’s case on many occasions. From 2005 to 2008, she continued her further studies in England and Germany, focusing on English and Chinese language writing and journalism. In 2008, Tsering returned to serve the exile Tibetan community in India and started working with the Tibetan new agency (Tibet Times).
Tsering Kyi was elected in 2009 to be the central executive member of Tibetan Women’s Association, where she headed the Tibetan Section of the ‘Research and Media’ desk at TWA. Tsering is also a freelance writer and she has already composed two books based on life in exile: “Lenbu Seb Kyi Mi Dhang” and “Daweh Tsom”. In 2007 she was selected as the second most read blogger on a popular blog-spot from Tibet. She is not only a member of Association of Tibetan Writers, and International Writer’s Association, she is also a proud member of the young Tibetan Writer’s Association, a group based in Tibet. Tsering has written umpteen numbers of lyrics for Tibetan songs and three such lyrics composed by Tsering has been incorporated into famous songs in Tibet. Tsering Kyi currently works for Voice of America, in Washington DC USA.
